How can we help?

7 Ways a Website Can Help Your Mansfield Business

  1. Save Time By Automating Routine Inquiries

If you get many calls from potential or current customers who want to know basic information like your location or your hours, you may want to consider creating a simple website. This can reduce the number of calls that distract you from other important tasks, or that you miss and annoy the caller. You can also add an Automated Chat Bot to your website, which can answer most questions from visitors. This can improve your internal productivity.

2. Improve Customer Service and Internal Workflows

Potential and current customers don’t like to have to call to gather information. A website can provide much of the information they need! Here are some ideas of what you can include on your website that will help serve them better:

  • Pricing (including “customer-only” prices)
  • Online quote form
  • Contact us page form (instead of just an email address)
  • FAQS
  • Knowledge base
  • How-to videos
  • Customer self-service options, like change of address
  • Appointment booking
  • Much more!

6. Boost Your Reputation

Your website can make or break your reputation. It’s where you can show your credibility as a “legitimate business” or highlight your outstanding customer service. It’s also for reinforcing impressions if someone wants to verify a good customer review or warning. If you have faced bad publicity, your website can help you because you can control the message and respond to any negative comments directly.

7. Generate Leads and Nurture Future Marketing efforts

A high-quality website is an asset for your business, especially if you want to grow or attract new customers in the future. With a website, you can easily leverage online advertising and other digital marketing strategies to direct traffic to your site or landing page.

3 Key Decisions for Your Website and Online Presence in Mansfield

1. Should I Build a New Website or Upgrade My Current One?

In determining if you should build a new website or upgrade your current one, ultimately you should approach this from a “return on investment” (ROI) point of view, factoring in three key elements:

  • The goal of your website
  • Your budget
  • Your ability to maintain it
Web build Location - Mansfield MA Website Design

If you want to boost your business value, you might consider building a new website instead of upgrading your existing one. However, if your current website is effective and can be improved with some changes, that could be a better option. Websites that are outdated or poorly designed can hurt your credibility and lead generation. You don’t need to start from scratch if your website has the latest technology. You can redesign or upgrade it with a new look, a blog, forms, and other features. WordPress websites make this easy, as you can change templates anytime.

A website built in the era of fanny packs may have outdated technology that affects its appearance, performance, and functionality. It may also hurt SEO, especially if it is not mobile friendly, and make you lose visibility to your competitors in search results.

2. Should I Build a Facebook Page, a Google Business Profile, or a Website?

Depending on your target audience, budget, and requirements, you may opt for a Facebook Page, a Google Business Profile, or a Website for your business. A Facebook page is suitable for fast, free, and simple online presence that reaches national or international consumers. A Google Business Profile is ideal for local businesses or consumers who want a quick and low-cost (or DIY) option. A website is the best choice for businesses or global audiences who have a website budget (typically $2,500 to $10,000) and can wait 1-3 months for a professional and customized solution.

That’s a simple answer to a multi-pronged question, so please take it as a generalization. There are certainly more factors at play, so let’s look closer at each option.

Can a Facebook Page replace a website?

For some cases, yes. A Facebook page may suffice for your online presence if you have a distinctive name and a small local service business that sells low-cost items ($150 or less) and does not require much technology. Facebook offers a ready-made online community, a consumer-oriented platform, and adequate tools to showcase your business. A distinctive name also helps your business rank higher in search results when people search for it.

Facebook Page Pros
  • A Facebook page is easy to set up.
  • Facebook has a large daily audience (over 1.9 billion) to tap into.
  • You benefit from the social proof that comes with positive reviews on your Facebook page.
  • The platform offers a personal feel that can help you connect with potential/current customers.
  • Chatting is easy with Facebook Messenger.
  • You can create a digital community by creating a “group.”
  • It is easy to share videos, which are a preferred method of content for many online visitors.

Facebook Page Cons
  • While you can update your page details and graphics, Facebook controls the rest of the design.
  • When visitors are on your page, they can be easily distracted by other pages, people, or groups.
  • You will need another platform to produce content, which you can then share on Facebook.
  • While the Facebook page is free, you will have limited visibility unless you pay for ads or boosts.
  • There are character limitations, which can hinder you from having a real conversation with your audience.
  • With security concerns (think Cambridge Analytica Scandal), you should be wary of the information that is traded through your page.
  • Due to security concerns and the nature of the users on the platform, your reach can be limited. For example, younger consumers (under 25) don’t typically use the platform. Instead, they gravitate towards Instagram and even Tik Tok. On the other end, only 4.9% of seniors are on Facebook. The largest demographic for Facebook is between 25-35, with more male users than female users.

Your Mansfield Google Business Profile (AKA “Google My Business”) as Your Primary Online Presence

Google Business Profile (GBP) Pros

A Google Business listing is a valuable tool for increasing your online visibility, especially in search results. It provides essential information about your business, but it does not replace a website. You should use both to enhance your online presence.

  • Better visibility in search results
  • At-a-glance business information (location, contact information, hours of operation, etc.)
  • Prominently displayed reviews
  • Easy way for customers to send you a message
  • Easily viewable images related to your products or services (from you and/or customers)
google business profile Location - Mansfield MA Website Design
Google Business Profile (GBP) Cons
  • Studies show that around 70% of consumers expect a small business to have a website, and around 30% won’t even do business with a company that doesn’t have a website.
  • Websites offer a competitive advantage when a customer is choosing between two businesses because of expanded features.

  • Time and learning in setting up a GBP. Simple websites are almost as easy to set up, especially if you use a website builder.

  • Google has control over your Google Business listing. You don’t have complete control over your reviews. Additionally, Google has a history of making “modifications” to listings without your permission. They can also remove your listing if there is something they don’t like in your profile.

  • Not everyone searches with Google, so you will be missing out on some of your prospective customers.
  • Google Business listings are limited in formatting and design. You can’t change much about the look of your listing,

Should My Website Be My Primary Online Presence?

Website Pros
  • You establish authority and credibility when you have an attractive, user-friendly website.

  • With a website, you have complete control over your design, content, calls-to-action, and other features.

  • You can create preferred contact channels through the website (phone, contact form, email, live chat/chatbot, etc.)

  • Websites are great for content marketing across various online platforms.

  • Gather leads in multiple ways, including blog or email subscriber forms, contact forms, online quote forms, consultation forms, and more.

  • You can automate many of your processes with a well-built website (online appointment scheduling, quote requests, etc.).

  • A website is the best avenue for selling your physical or digital products or services.

  • You can use a variety of SEO tactics to rank at the top of search engine results pages (SERPs).

  • Using a flexible content management system like WordPress, there are endless features you can add to your website.

Website Cons
  • Building a great website takes time.

  • There is a higher upfront cost to building a website, but you yield better returns in the long run.

  • Having a website involves periodic technical maintenance.

  • It can take time for your website to rank well organically with Google and other search engines.

  • For best results, plan on creating or updating content on a regular basis. This can be page content updates, blog posts, videos, or other content.

3. Should I Create a Mobile App or Build a Responsive Website?

You want to offer a great online experience for your customers and prospects, especially on mobile devices. But should you create a mobile app or a responsive website for that purpose?

The answer depends on your goals and resources. Here are the main differences between the two options:

Mobile Apps: These are software applications that users have to download and install on their smartphones or tablets. They can provide extra or simplified features that are not available on your website. Some examples of apps are Amazon, Spotify, Ebay, etc.

Responsive Websites: These are websites that adapt to any screen size and device automatically. Users can access them on the internet without downloading anything. They can display the same content as your website, but in a more user-friendly way on smaller screens.

Each option has its advantages and disadvantages. Here are some of them:

Mobile App Development Pros and Cons

Mobile App Pros:
  • Apps allow for push notifications and in-app notifications (with user permission).

  • Apps reach customers that already like your brand (thus downloaded your app).

  • Mobile applications can be used offline to see basic information like location, hours, products, and menus (certain functionality like maps, calls, in-app purchases would not be accessible).

mobile apps Location - Mansfield MA Website Design
Mobile App Cons:
  • Apps generally take longer to develop than responsive websites
  • Mobile apps must stay in compliance with the guidelines of the Apple Store and Google Play Store
  • They typically cost more to develop
  • Mobile apps can’t be accessed via the internet browser
  • Most businesses need both an app and a website
  • Once your app is ready, you may need a marketing plan to get people to download and use it

Responsive Web Design Pros and Cons

Responsive Web Design Pros:
  • Responsive sites are easier to create and maintain, especially for non-techy businesses.

  • They are typically less expensive to create.

  • Mobile websites can offer similar to functionality to apps (1-click calling, e-commerce, social sharing, map navigation, etc.).

  • Responsive sites don’t need to be downloaded onto a user’s device to use.

  • Easily accessible via internet browsers (which is how many people search out a business).

  • Responsive websites will help your SEO efforts because, unlike apps, they are crawled by search engines.

Responsive Web Design Cons:
  • Responsive websites can’t be accessed offline.

  • Mobile sites can’t offer all of the functionality of mobile apps.

  • Responsive sites can be slower loading than apps.

  • Navigating responsive websites can be more difficult on smaller devices.

Web Design FAQs

Do you build WordPress websites?2021-11-02T08:53:54-04:00

Yes, we only build WordPress websites. WordPress is now the most popular content management system (CMS) on the planet. Currently, over 75 million websites are powered by WordPress (over 37% of the internet). Used by large and small businesses alike, WordPress has the flexibility and options that allow businesses to get all the features they need without custom code. The WordPress interface is easy enough for just about anyone to go in and make changes, giving business the ability to easily update content as needed without having to depend on an IT person or web developer.

Can you build me a mobile-friendly website?2021-11-01T19:44:52-04:00

Yes. In fact, we only build mobile-friendly websites. In order to get the best return on investment, your website must be responsive and easy to use on all-sized devices. Otherwise it will be penalized and devalued by search engines, and your hard-earned money will be wasted on a website that no one sees. We incorporate best SEO practices in the building of our websites so our clients have the opportunity to compete in their niche.

Do I have to be in Boston in order to work with your web design agency?2021-11-01T19:40:26-04:00

Absolutely not! In fact, we have built websites for clients all over the world. We also create multi-lingual websites for international organizations. As long as you are able to communicate with us via video conference, email, and phone, we are happy to partner with you to build your amazing new business website!

How much time will it take to build my website?2022-02-21T15:54:06-05:00

We generally aim to finish a website within 6-8 weeks, but that depends on the size and complexity of your website project, as well as the amount of content you will be providing. Typically our clients set the pace. The more involved they are with the process, content, and revisions, the more quickly the website will be launched.

How many pages should my website be?2021-11-01T16:45:51-04:00

That’s determined by your products/services and objectives.  At a high level, most websites have separate pages for Home, About, and Contact, and separate pages for each of your key products or services.  For example, an Auto Body Shop would have a separate page for Auto Body Work and Auto Glass Replacement, but maybe their other services are “secondary” so they do not need separate pages for them, such as brake or tire repair.  In general, if you want your services to rank well with search engines, they should have their own page.  We can assist with this.

How much does it cost for a website?2021-11-01T16:43:08-04:00

Our pricing is on our website, so please check it out.  You can expect to pay what you see–no hidden fees, no trying to sell you things you don’t need.  We give you our best assessment of what will help your business, and then you can decide.

How do I know if my website is a good value?2021-11-01T16:49:05-04:00

There are two ways to answer that.  Our process will aim to solve your business problems.  You might need more customers; want to save time by answering fewer phone calls or more efficiently handling form submissions; or improving your company’s reputation.  You can then place a value on those things and determine if your website investment is worth it.

The other way is by calculating website Return on Investment.  Let’s say you pay $8000 for a new website.  Now think of how new sales you need to recoup the $8000.  For example, if your net profit on sales is 10%, that means you need to generate $80000 in new sales to pay for the website.  We recommend that you view the “payback period” the 12-24 month period after the site goes live.  But keep in mind an important fact: A new website must be effective to yield results.  If you open a beautiful new retail store but it’s on a side street and many people don’t ever see it, the effectiveness is decreased.  Still the concept is the same–you would calculate any of your investment over a period of time and compare that to results of the website.  If you’re interested in learning more about this, we love crunching numbers–just ask!

Can I update the website myself?2023-06-17T15:13:05-04:00

Yes, we install WordPress as the content management system and you can use this to update your website.  If you need training on using WordPress, we can recommend some free self-tutorials.  We also offer tutorials as an optional service at $90/hour, and we can typically show you how to use the site in 1-2 hours.

Furthermore, we offer a Custom Admin Documentation service that goes through your particular site and provides step-by-step written or video instructions for the key areas of your website.  That’s a one-time cost of $500.  Lastly, we provide website updates as part of our website hosting and support services.

Can the website be hosted wherever I want?2021-11-01T16:58:10-04:00

Yes, if you have a place to host the website, we will transfer it from there or provide you with the files as part of our website design service fee.  For those who know little about “website hosting,” this refers to your website needing to be set up on a server (computer) so visitors can get to it.  There are hundreds of hosting companies out there, and making a decision exclusively on price can be a big mistake, especially if you encounter the need for support.  If you look into third party hosting companies, you will find a wide variation in cost and services.  We’re happy to educate you on this if needed. We also offer hosting and support services, but you’re not obliged to use them.

.

Our Approach to Pricing.

We’ve compared our prices with others. There are independent freelancers who charge less than we do. Some are talented. Yet there will always be a limitation of a “one-man band.” On the other side, large agencies have large teams, offices, and overhead, and prices to match. We’re a “small agency” that gets big results, and we can add resources as projects dictate. We go the extra mile to delight customers, and we believe this offers exceptional value for small businesses.
